A few hours out in open air is enough for the foam to come back to its full shape.

Wear the opening forward
The gap in the U goes at the front, under your chin, with the thick part behind your neck. Worn backwards it pushes your head forward instead of holding it.
Pack it at the top of your bag or clip it to a handle. Crushed flat under heavy luggage for weeks at a time is the one thing that shortens a foam pillow's life.

Will it actually stop my head dropping forward?
That is the whole design. The thick part sits behind and around the sides of your neck, so when you fall asleep sitting up there is something holding your head instead of it tipping onto your shoulder or forward onto your chest.
Wear the opening at the front, under your chin. Worn the wrong way round, with the thick part under your chin, it pushes your head forward and does the opposite of what you wanted.
Can I wear it while driving?
No. Please do not. A neck pillow limits how far you can turn your head, which is exactly what you need to do to check blind spots and look over your shoulder.
It is made for the passenger seat. If you are the one driving, take it off.
Can I use it at home in bed?
It will not work the way you are hoping. A U-shape is built for an upright head with nothing behind it. Lying flat, the thick part behind your neck pushes your head forward and you wake up stiffer than you went to sleep.
For home, use a proper pillow matched to how you sleep. Our pillow finder will point you at the right one in about a minute.
How do I clean it?
Spot clean only. Memory foam cannot be washed, so use a lightly damp cloth with mild soap on the fabric, then let it air dry naturally and completely before using it again.
Never soak it, machine wash it or dry clean it, and do not speed up drying with a radiator or a dryer. Keep it out of direct sunlight too, which means a car dashboard is the worst place to leave it between trips.
