The word "orthopedic" is not a regulated term in India, so it gets used loosely. What matters is the construction underneath, not the label on the packaging.
Four things that actually decide it
1. Firmness level
Medium-firm suits most sleepers, because it balances cushioning with support. Too soft and your hips sink below your shoulders. Too firm and your shoulders and hips take all the pressure while your lower back is left unsupported.
2. Support layers
A single block of foam will sag. Layered construction — a comfort layer over a denser support core — holds its shape far longer and is what keeps posture correct over years, not months.
3. Pressure relief
Memory foam adapts to your body shape, which reduces stress on shoulders, hips and the lower back. It also absorbs movement, so a partner turning over does not travel across the bed.
4. Material quality
Breathable cover fabric matters more in India than most buyers expect. A dense foam with a non-breathable cover will sleep warm no matter how good the support is.
